Mycosorb A+ Mycotoxin Binder

Description

Mycosorb A+ is a broad spectrum mycotoxin binder, stable over a wide pH range and avoids interactions with minerals and nutrients. It offers superior binding capabilities, a broader adsorption profile and increased efficacy.

Horses a very sensitive to mycotoxins, and their reliance on forage makes this problematic. The use of Mycosorb A+ comes in handy to counter-act the potential hazards of mycotoxins in the horses diet.  Mycotoxins are harmful molecules produced by molds that live on  plants and in conserved forage. One of the key difficulties in identifying the risk is that mycotoxins can be present without visible mold being present. Equally, not all mold growth indicates the presence of mycotoxins. Thus the horse can ingest mycotoxins on a daily basis with concentrates and hay. Bedding can also be a source of mycotoxins.

Symptoms associated with mycotoxins can include unresolved cases of greasy heel, sunburn in horses, general lethargy, unexplained poor performance, inconsistent manure, an increased susceptibility to disease, joint swelling and altered heat cycles in mares.  Mycotoxins can also cause colic, gastrointestinal upset, weight loss, immune suppression, impaired performance and poor growth. In serious cases it can cause liver problems and neurological disorders.

Suffice to say, all horses come into contact with mycotoxins on a daily basis, and although horses may not be able to avoid exposure, with good management practices it is possible to significantly reduce the potentially harmful effects.

Dosage is 10 – 20g per day.
